Electrical Technician
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Specific Accountabilities: Receives work assignments with briefing and instructions from Supervisor/Snr. Tech. Discusses and obtains requirements of materials and spares. Carries out skilled technical installation, repair, and maintenance of various electrical systems in the workshop and/or on-site. This includes the following: Industrial and ex-rated HV and LV motors and their associated Control and Protection Gear. Power transformers, reactors, and their associated control and protection gear. HV switchgear (oil, Vacuum, air breaker), LV Switchboard. UPS systems, battery chargers, and batteries. HV and LV equipment in Ring Main Substations (HV fuse Switch, HV isolators, and 415V Distribution Boards). Earthing systems. Small Power & lighting system. Equipment installed in Hazardous areas. Motorized valves. Standby generators and their related control and protection equipment. Cathodic Protection. Any other electrical equipment in either Power network & Utilities or the Oil & Gas section and STOREX section. Carries out checking and testing of protection relays and any other required electrical testing. Must be capable of selecting and using the correct electrical test equipment. Must be conversant with flameproof equipment as duties would include maintenance, testing, and commissioning of a wide range of electrical equipment within hazardous areas. Carries out routine and planned maintenance on Cathodic protection transformer and be able to install Cathodic protection bonds on pipework in hazardous areas when the cathodic protection technician is off-site. Should be aware of all types of electrical permits and other permits utilized in a Petrochemical plant. Must be capable of preparing sketches, determining spares and material requirements. Must be capable of identifying consumables, tools, and equipment requirements. Able to read electrical Single Line, Schematic, and wiring diagrams. Able to write concise technical electrical reports in English. Carries out training for subordinates including UAE Nationals. Desired Candidate Profile Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Electrical discipline / Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant field. Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills: 4 years of experience in maintaining electrical equipment within a large industrial plant, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
