Senior Project Manager Network Migration (SDH/DWDM/Transport)

Position Objective: The Senior Project Manager Network Migration will provide full support to the Program Manager in delivering consultancy services and ensuring high-quality project deliverables. The role will be responsible for the end-to-end project delivery of Network Migration and Modernization, with focus on SDH, DWDM, OTN and Transport networks, including network modernization, traffic and service migration, switch-off, decommissioning and dismantling. Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end implementation of Network Migration projects covering SDH, NG-SDH, DWDM, OTN and associated Transport networks
• Lead the planning and execution of Transport modernization, traffic/service migration, switch-off, decommissioning and dismantling activities
• Manage migration from legacy SDH-based networks towards modern DWDM/OTN, IP/MPLS and packet-based Transport solutions
• Establish and maintain a detailed project plan covering scope, milestones, resources, dependencies and priorities in line with Client requirements
• Monitor project progress, KPIs and key milestones, proactively identify bottlenecks and ensure timely implementation of corrective and recovery actions
• Ensure all migration prerequisites and dependencies are identified, tracked and cleared, including network readiness, fiber/OSP, ISP, space, power and connectivity requirements
• Coordinate migration activities including traffic analysis, migration planning, MDT/cutover, traffic re-routing, service validation and operational acceptance
• Ensure all traffic and services are successfully migrated and validated before legacy network elements are approved for switch-off and dismantling
• Identify, assess and manage project risks, critical activities and blocking issues, and ensure timely mitigation, resolution and escalation
• Establish effective communication, coordination, reporting and escalation mechanisms between the project team, Client, Vendors, Contractors and Program Director
• Conduct regular project progress and coordination meetings and ensure actions and decisions are properly followed up
• Ensure accurate and timely project reporting covering progress, milestones, KPIs, risks/issues, financial status and contractual commitments
• Monitor Vendor and Contractor performance and ensure timely delivery of surveys, installations, migrations, integrations, dismantling and related activities
• Ensure proper Asset Lifecycle Management during decommissioning and dismantling, including identification and reconciliation of dismantled assets and accurate update of the Asset Register and inventory records

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with strong experience in Transport network implementation, migration and modernization. Minimum 5 years of project/program management experience, preferably in large-scale telecom network migration or modernization programs. Valid Project Management Certification such as PMP or PRINCE2, with good knowledge of project management methodologies. Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in SDH, NG-SDH, DWDM, OTN, IP-MPLS and Transport network architectures. Good understanding of the end-to-end network migration lifecycle, including planning, readiness, implementation, MDT/cutover, service migration, validation, switch-off, decommissioning and dismantling. Good understanding of Asset Lifecycle Management, including telecom asset dismantling, reconciliation, retirement/disposal and Asset Register updates. Experience in managing multi-domain dependencies, Vendors, Contractors and cross-functional teams within a large telecom operator environment. Strong leadership, teamwork and cross-functional communication skills. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; Arabic would be an added advantage.
