Job Description Roles & Responsibilities The role is for Jr. Engineer/Engineer/Sr. Engineer/Asst. Manager level Planning with a costing background. *Preferences – Nicmar/L&T (Planning with a costing background) The Engineer – QS is responsible for supporting quantity surveying and commercial activities, including quantity take-offs, measurement, bill preparation, cost tracking and documentation. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience in both pre-contract and post-contract QS functions and works under the supervision of senior team members to ensure commercial compliance and accuracy in project reporting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and BOQs from project drawings and specifications. Support in compiling unit rates, rate analysis and tender documentation. Help in reviewing tender documents and identifying scope items. Maintain estimation databases and assist in comparative pricing sheets. Support in preparing interim payment applications and subcontractor bills. Assist in measurement of completed works and reconciliation with BOQ. Maintain records for variations, material reconciliation and site instructions. Track cost expenditures and support in preparing cost reports for management review. Liaise with site engineers for quantity updates and progress verification. Collect quotations and assist in vendor/subcontractor comparison sheets. Ensure documentation is maintained for all commercial activities. Support in the preparation of reports, presentations and internal memos. COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Quantity Surveyors and Estimation Team Planning, Procurement and Site Execution Teams Project Controls and Finance Teams External: Subcontractors and Suppliers (for support in pricing or billing) Consultants or Clients (for document submission and clarification, as required) FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY: The Engineer QS works under close supervision and follows defined procedures and formats. They do not hold commercial decision-making authority but provide critical support in ensuring accuracy and completeness of QS data and reports. Desired Candidate Profile QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering / quantity surveying / construction management. 4–15years of relevant experience is a must in Planning with a costing background. Exposure to QS practices in construction or real estate projects is an added advantage.
