Assistant Resident Engineer
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Supervise and monitor drainage and infrastructure works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, QCS requirements, and PWA/Ashghal standards. Act as the Engineer’s representative on site and coordinate with the Contractor, Consultant, Client, and relevant stakeholders. Review and monitor construction activities for foul sewer, stormwater/surface water drainage, manholes, chambers, and associated utility works. Review shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, inspection requests, and technical submissions. Ensure construction works are executed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements. Monitor the Contractor’s progress, resources, workmanship, and compliance with the approved construction programme. Conduct regular site inspections and coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities. Identify technical issues and coordinate with the design and project teams to ensure timely resolution. Monitor and control NCRs, defects, snags, and corrective actions to ensure satisfactory close-out. Coordinate with utility authorities and stakeholders regarding existing and proposed drainage and utility networks. Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and support the implementation of safe working practices on site. Prepare and review daily/weekly progress reports, site records, inspection reports, and other project documentation. Participate in progress meetings, technical meetings, coordination meetings, and site inspections. Ensure that completed works meet the required quality standards prior to approval and handover. Provide technical guidance to site engineers and inspectors and support the Resident Engineer in overall project delivery. Desired Candidate Profile We are looking for a highly experienced and technically competent Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) with strong experience in drainage and infrastructure projects, preferably from a consultancy background. The ideal candidate should have: Minimum 10+ years of overall professional experience, with at least 7 years in a similar ARE / Assistant Resident Engineer role. Strong hands-on experience in drainage infrastructure projects, including foul sewer, stormwater/surface water drainage, manholes, chambers, and associated wet utilities. Previous experience working on PWA/Ashghal projects in Qatar is essential. Previous PWA Approval as an Assistant Resident Engineer is required. Strong understanding of PWA/Ashghal specifications, QCS 2014, approved drawings, project specifications, and construction standards. Proven consultancy-side experience in supervising and managing infrastructure/drainage works. Ability to review and coordinate shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, ITPs, inspection requests, and technical submissions. Strong knowledge of construction supervision, quality control, progress monitoring, and contractor management. Excellent coordination skills with clients, contractors, consultants, utility authorities, and project stakeholders. Good technical reporting, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. MMUP/UPDA certification is mandatory. Must be currently available in Qatar with a valid QID and able to join immediately.
