As a Senior AI / ML Engineer in our Data & AI department, you will architect, develop, and deploy advanced AI functionalities that power Mal s core banking, global accounts, SME, travel, shopping, and wealth platforms. Join our passionate team and help redefine how Muslims worldwide engage with ethical, intelligent financial services. Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models across Mal s product suite (core banking, PFM, SME, travel, shopping, and wealth) Collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams to translate business and Sharia requirements into AI-driven solutions Build and optimize data pipelines supporting real-time analytics, recommendations, and fraud detection Ensure the ethical, explainable, and compliant use of AI/ML in all aspects of Mal s platform Implement AI-powered personalization for customer experiences and financial wellness tools Mentor and guide junior engineers and data scientists in best practices and advanced methodologies Stay abreast of AI/ML research, tools, and ethical frameworks relevant to fintech and Islamic finance Deliver a proof-of-concept AI model for at least one key product area (e.g., financial recommendations or fraud detection) Establish best practices and documentation for ethical AI development within Mal Collaborate with stakeholders to define the AI roadmap for upcoming releases Audit and refine existing data pipelines for improved efficiency and compliance Mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge of advanced AI/ML techniques and responsible AI

Desired Candidate Profile

Proven expertise in designing and deploying end-to-end LLM systems in production Deep proficiency in Python and modern LLM frameworks Strong background in data engineering, feature engineering, and model optimization Experience with cloud-based AI infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, ethical AI solutions Demonstrated commitment to privacy, security, and ethical AI principles Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in cross-functional teams Experience in fintech, banking, or Sharia-compliant financial sectors Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) and conversational AI Exposure to recommender systems, anomaly detection, or credit scoring models Knowledge of Zakat, Islamic finance, or halal investing Experience with data privacy regulations in the GCC or global markets
