Job Details

The Tax Supervisor is responsible for overseeing tax engagements, reviewing complex returns, and supporting both client relationships and internal team development. This role sits between staff and senior leadership, requiring strong technical expertise along with the ability to manage workflows and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Compliance

Manage and review preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings for individuals and business entities

Oversee tax projections, estimated payments, and filing extensions

Conduct tax research and document findings with clear recommendations

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations while identifying tax-saving opportunities

Maintain consistent communication with clients to address needs and provide guidance

Team Leadership & Development

Supervise and mentor staff and senior associates throughout engagements

Review workpapers and returns, providing actionable feedback

Manage multiple engagements and prioritize deadlines effectively

Contribute to staff evaluations and ongoing development efforts

Technical & Process Management

Stay current on tax law and regulatory updates

Support workflow improvements and tax software utilization

Assist with budgeting, billing, and engagement tracking

Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required

Master's in Taxation preferred

CPA license or active pursuit required

5+ years of public accounting experience

Progressive responsibility in tax compliance and review

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation

Technical Skills

Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, or similar tax software

Familiarity with workflow tools and engagement systems

Strong Excel and data handling skills

Core Competencies

Analytical thinking and attention to detail

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
