Role Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer for an opportunity based in San Diego, CA. This role involves applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo and DOORS to support the development of a system architecture, conduct functional and trade-study analyses, and translate customer requirements into detailed specifications across the full product lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate with design, logistics, specialty engineering, and integrated product teams to ensure solutions meet schedule, cost, and performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements while acknowledging technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into specifications using DOORS.

Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture, including behavioral, structural, and analytical models.

Ensure system requirements, architecture, and designs integrate with the technical needs of the program.

Collaborate with program team counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.

Work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature the architecture content of large program designs.

Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure they are properly represented in the model.

Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes for model development, tool integration, and team integration.

Participate in engineering review boards and other program reviews as required.

Communicate and present technical approaches and findings at technical and program reviews.

Apply technical expertise in the development of technical solutions to complex problems.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

Level 3: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with 1 year of experience.

Level 4: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or a PhD with 4 years of experience.

Level 5: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 12 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 10 years of experience; or a PhD with 8 years of experience.

General Qualifications

Proven experience in the systems engineering process.

Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills.

Experience in system requirements development, management, analysis, verification, or validation.

DOORS and DXL Scripting

Design analysis, verification, and validation

Preferred Qualifications

Active DOD Secret Clearance

Experience with Agile, JIRA, and Confluence.

Proficiency in DOORS including DXL scripting.

3+ years of experience writing requirements and/or verification plans.

Capable of working with minimal direction and in team environments.

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering.

Experience in the systems engineering process across the entire product lifecycle.

Experience with complex system development on large programs.

Experience with software design or demonstrated ability to work with software-aided design tools.

Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages.

INCOSE Participation or CSEP certification.
