Structural Steel Design & Tekla Engineer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Design and analyze structural steel buildings, warehouses, platforms, pipe racks, mezzanines, canopies, industrial structures, and other steel structures. Develop accurate 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures. Prepare general arrangement drawings, fabrication/shop drawings, assembly drawings, erection drawings, and connection details. Prepare structural calculations and design reports using STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or other approved structural analysis software. Design steel members, bolted and welded connections, base plates, anchor bolts, bracing systems, and supporting elements. Generate material take-offs, BOQs, cutting lists, bolt lists, and CNC/NC fabrication files from Tekla. Review client drawings, project specifications, design criteria, and applicable codes before starting the design. Ensure compliance with SBC, AISC, ASCE, IBC, and AWS standards and project requirements. Coordinate with estimation, procurement, production, fabrication, quality, and site erection teams. Review and check shop drawings, connection details, and Tekla models before issuing them for fabrication. Optimize steel structures to achieve safety, constructability, material efficiency, and cost-effective solutions. Resolve design, fabrication, and erection-related technical issues and respond to RFIs. Prepare design revisions and as-built drawings in accordance with approved site modifications. Coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors regarding technical comments and approvals. Maintain proper document control and ensure drawings are issued according to the project schedule. Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and site erection activities. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. Minimum 5 years of practical experience in structural steel design, analysis, modeling, and detailing. Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures is mandatory. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD. Professional experience in at least one structural analysis program, such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. Capable of independently preparing structural calculations, Tekla models, fabrication/shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection drawings. Strong knowledge of structural steel members, bolted and welded connections, base plates, anchor bolts, and bracing systems. Good understanding of steel fabrication, welding, CNC processing, surface treatment, and erection methods. Familiarity with SBC, AISC, ASCE, IBC, and AWS standards. Experience in industrial buildings, warehouses, platforms, pipe racks, mezzanines, canopies, and heavy steel structures. Ability to generate accurate material take-offs, BOQs, cutting lists, bolt lists, and CNC/NC files. Previous experience with a structural steel fabrication company in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is highly preferred. Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, production, fabrication, quality, and site teams. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet project deadlines. Good written and spoken English. Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers, or eligibility for registration, is preferred. Candidates currently located in Saudi Arabia and available to join within a short notice period will be given preference.
