Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of applications. The role will have a strong focus on Frontend and Backend/API test automation, building reusable automation frameworks, integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and enabling continuous quality validation throughout the software development lifecycle. The SDET will work closely with Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Product Owners, and DevOps teams to establish a shift-left approach to quality and increase automated test coverage across platforms. Design, develop, and maintain scalable Frontend and Backend/API automation frameworks. Develop automated end-to-end tests for Web applications using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent. Develop automated API tests covering REST APIs, integrations, business workflows, error scenarios, and service-to-service interactions. Convert existing manual regression test cases into reliable automated test suites. Develop reusable test utilities, fixtures, test data management capabilities, mocks, and supporting automation libraries. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, enabling automated validation as part of application builds and deployments. Implement appropriate test automation across different layers, including API, integration, UI, end-to-end, and regression testing. Analyze automated test failures, identify defects and root causes, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues. Ensure automated tests are reliable, maintainable, repeatable, and suitable for execution across multiple environments. Participate in application design, technical design, and code reviews with a focus on testability and quality engineering. Define and monitor automation metrics including test coverage, pass/failure rates, execution time, flaky tests, and regression effectiveness. Continuously improve automation frameworks, tooling, testing practices, and engineering standards. Mentor QA engineers and support the adoption of automation and software engineering practices across the QA team.
