Senior Director - Safety

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Sets out EGA’s Safety and Governance strategy and framework based on EGA’s overall ESG & Sustainability strategy, purpose, bold aspirations, and values. Directs the implementation of the functional strategy ensuring alignment to group strategy, EGA’s vision, mission, and corporate objectives. Ensures that functional strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, aligned with the vision and mission of the organization. Provides subject matter expertise and counsel to EGA leadership on safety and governance matters. Shares the approved strategy with local/legal authorities where appropriate to obtain feedback as part of continuous improvement. Manages the effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership, performance management, team development, and motivation. Establishes SMART KPIs for departments to measure performance against company objectives and values. Leads talent development initiatives and ensures availability of talent to meet business requirements. Acts as a role model, promoting organizational values and ethics. Oversees coordination with other departments to ensure timely flow of information and services. Oversees the consolidation and recommendation of the functional budget and monitors financial performance. Strategizes the creation of company-wide safety policies, processes, and procedures. Enforces corporate procedures and guidelines across the business. Communicates relevant safety and governance information to management. Develops and leads a comprehensive governance framework for safety management across EGA. Oversees implementation of safety policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls. Counsels EGA Management on safety roles and responsibilities. Ensures implementation, updating, review, and auditing of EGA safety systems. Monitors Safety System procedures and updates them in line with legislative and organizational changes. Plans, leads, and coordinates safety-related projects across all EGA sites. Leads safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance and corrective actions. Plans, implements, and conducts safety and compliance audits. Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive safety programs. Provides site safety management with guidance to ensure compliance with local regulations. Leads and directs day-to-day safety operations across all EGA sites. Reviews and stops operations or activities that could harm employees. Directs proactive initiatives to minimize workplace injuries and accidents. Leads significant incident investigations and oversees investigation reports. Reviews accident and incident reports. Manages the planning and delivery of safety training across all levels. Reviews safety training programs and recommends improvements. Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess compliance. Directs analysis of accident and incident statistics and recommends improvement plans. Provides safety advice and support to Area Management. Develops and implements international safety training programs. Leads initiatives to raise awareness of safety protocols and best practices. Implements and maintains standardized reporting systems for safety incidents and compliance. Reviews and updates safety procedures to align with international standards. Monitors compliance with international safety regulations through audits and inspections. Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental management policies. Leads change management initiatives through continuous improvement of systems and processes. Ensures all functional reports are prepared accurately and on time. Authority / Decision Making Acts within clearly defined policies, standards, and objectives. Applies quantitative analysis to decision-making. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as Safety Management or HSSE. Professional Certification/Diploma in Safety Management. Lead Auditor certification. Minimum 12 years of safety experience in an industrial environment. At least 4 years of safety management-level experience. Skills & Abilities Risk assessment and management. Administrative policies and procedures.
