Senior Database Administrator

Manage the installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all databases. Support and ensure the mission critical systems are operational 24x7. Monitor and analyze database performance and ensure effective and efficient utilization of database systems/processes. Facilitate the required support and coordination with the ongoing maintenance, upgrades or enhancements of the databases Provide technical support to identify, prevent, and resolve service interruptions across the various Database Systems and Services. Monitor, schedule and perform required activities to investigate and resolve hardware / software related issues that are affecting the availability and reliability of the databases. Develop, implement and test business continuity, emergency, incident response and recovery plans for all supported databases. Conduct feasibility studies for various database upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions. Support the execution of all business and IT projects with database-related deliverables. Provide reliable expert technical advice, analysis and recommendations, build relationships across key stakeholder groups, and identify opportunities to meet the business goals and objectives. Contribute to product evaluations, service selections and tender assessment in accordance with bank policies and procedures. Contribute to the definition, development, and update of operational reports, dashboards, and processes to monitor and analyze availability, SLA and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with the SLA target as well as support the required efforts to address SLA breaches. Create and evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for monitoring the performance of the databases and monitor their achievements on regular basis Support the development of the required policies, procedures and documentation pertaining to the management, security, maintenance, usage, problem detection/resolution, for all databases. Ensure compliance with corporate / security policies and governmental regulations, and manage interaction with internal and external auditors, as needed. Plan and deploy security measures for databases (e.g. Database patching, Database hardening) in line with the Bank s security policies and financial services industry standards. Maintain an accurate, detailed and up to date inventory of all Database assets.

Desired Candidate Profile

Personal Specifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information System or a related field. 8+ years of experience as Database Administrator (DBA), including experience designing, installing, configuring, patching, archiving, and monitoring. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in Oracle RAC, ASM, Dataguard, Enterprise Manager, RMAN and SQL Server clustering Hands-on experience on Oracle Exadata Configure, Manage, monitor, administer, and patch. Industry recognized, relevant professional certifications in database administration is required. Technical background and extensive knowledge working with different flavors of Operating Systems (Windows, Linux and UNIX). Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for Oracle and SQL databases. Experience with backup/recovery best practices. Extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools is desirable Excellent communication skills Excellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills to resolve problems that are technical in nature, deal with all inquiries effectively and responsively, recognizing difficult situations and responding accordingly. Familiarity with ITIL Framework and IT service management practices and processes.
