Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Title: Senior Cloud Modernization & Migration Engineer (Azure Alibaba Cloud) Job Location: UAE (Onsite) Experince: 7+ years Duration: Long-term Role Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Cloud Modernization & Migration Engineer to support a strategic transformation initiative. The role involves modernizing existing monolithic applications in Microsoft Azure, containerizing them using Kubernetes, and leading a seamless migration to Alibaba Cloud. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in application modernization, cloud-native architectures, AI-driven efficiencies, and multi-cloud migration strategies. Key Responsibilities: Application Modernization: * Assess and analyze existing monolithic applications. * Design and implement modernization strategies (re-architecting, refactoring, microservices transformation). * Apply cloud-native principles (12-factor applications, scalability, resilience). * Integrate AI/ML components where applicable to improve efficiency and automation. Cloud & Containerization: * Containerize applications using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS/ACK or similar). * Build and manage scalable container orchestration platforms. * Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments. Azure Environment Management: * Work with existing Microsoft Azure workloads and services. * Optimize architecture for performance, scalability, and cost. * Ensure best practices in security, governance, and monitoring. Migration to Alibaba Cloud: * Design and execute migration strategies from Microsoft Azure to Alibaba Cloud. * Map Azure services to equivalent Alibaba Cloud services. * Perform workload migrations with minimal downtime and risk. * Optimize applications post-migration for the Alibaba Cloud ecosystem. AI Enablement (Value Add): * Identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML for: * Application performance optimization * Automation of operations * Intelligent monitoring and alerting * Work with AI services across Microsoft Azure and/or Alibaba Cloud where relevant. Required Skills & Experience: Core Expertise: * Strong experience in modernizing monolithic applications into microservices. * Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and architecture. * Proven experience or strong familiarity with Alibaba Cloud services. * Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, troubleshooting). Technical Skills: * Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes * Programming: Java / .NET / Python (strong proficiency in at least one) * CI/CD: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar * Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates, Bicep, or Alibaba Cloud ROS * API Design & Microservices Architecture * Cloud Networking and Security AI / Advanced Capabilities (Preferred): * Exposure to AI/ML services such as Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, or Alibaba Cloud PAI. * Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications or operational workflows. Soft Skills: * Strong delivery ownership and accountability. * Excellent client-facing communication skills. * Ability to work in complex, multi-cloud environments. * Strong problem-solving mindset with a hands-on execution approach. Experience Requirements: * 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering and application modernization. * Proven track record delivering end-to-end modernization projects. * Experience in multi-cloud environments (Azure + Alibaba Cloud preferred). * Prior experience executing large-scale migration projects. Nice to Have: * Microsoft Azure, Alibaba Cloud, or Kubernetes certifications. * Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, etc.). * Knowledge of DevSecOps practices.
