Quality Controller
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all joinery products, materials, and installation works comply with approved project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. The role oversees quality inspections throughout the production and installation process, identifies non-conformities, and works closely with production and site teams to implement corrective actions, ensuring the highest standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Incoming Material Inspection Inspect incoming raw materials, timber, MDF, plywood, veneer, laminate, edge banding, glass, mirrors, hardware, metal components, adhesives, and finishing materials. Verify materials against approved material submittals, purchase orders, and project specifications. Ensure materials are free from defects, damage, moisture, warping, delamination, or manufacturing defects. Record inspection results and report non-conforming materials. Coordinate with Procurement and Stores for replacement of rejected materials. In-Process Quality Inspection Conduct stage-wise inspections throughout the manufacturing process. Verify dimensions against approved shop drawings and production drawings. Inspect machining, cutting, edge banding, drilling, routing, grooving, assembly, and hardware installation. Verify veneer grain direction, laminate orientation, joint alignment, and edge finishing. Ensure all joinery components comply with approved tolerances. Inspect adhesive application, fixing methods, and assembly quality. Monitor workmanship and compliance with approved manufacturing procedures. Paint & Finishing Inspection Check color consistency, gloss level, texture, sheen, and overall finish quality. Identify defects such as scratches, orange peel, runs, pinholes, bubbles, dust contamination, poor adhesion, color variation, and uneven coating. Ensure repaired or reworked items meet quality standards before approval. Final Inspection Perform final inspection of completed joinery products before packing and dispatch. Verify dimensions, appearance, workmanship, functionality, and overall product quality. Check alignment of doors, drawers, hinges, runners, locks, handles, and other hardware. Ensure all accessories and fittings are complete. Confirm products comply with approved mock-ups, client-approved samples, and project specifications. Approve products for packing and dispatch or issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) where required. Site Quality Inspection Inspect installed joinery works at project sites. Verify installation quality, alignment, level, plumb, fixing methods, gaps, and finishing. Conduct snag inspections and prepare snag lists. Monitor rectification works and verify completion. Participate in consultant and client inspections. Support project handover inspections and close-out activities. Documentation & Reporting Prepare daily inspection reports and quality records. Maintain inspection checklists for each production stage. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective work. Follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, photographs, and test reports. Ensure traceability of inspected products and materials. Prepare quality status reports for management. Quality Assurance Ensure manufacturing complies with approved shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and project specifications. Participate in internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Support root cause analysis for recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions. Desired Candidate Profile Preferred Skills Strong understanding of timber, veneers, laminates, hardware, and finishing materials. Ability to interpret shop drawings and technical specifications. Excellent observation and analytical skills. Strong communication and coordination abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Experience working on commercial, hospitality, residential, and luxury fit-out projects.
