Lead Architect / Project Manager

Reports to Design Manager / Client Manager, as applicable. Leads and coordinates Architects, Designers and BIM Modelers assigned to the project. Coordinates with internal engineering disciplines including Structural, MEP, Transport, Environment, Process and other specialist teams, as well as external stakeholders and sub-consultants. Control over assigned architectural design activities, task allocation and day-to-day coordination of the architectural team. Review architectural deliverables for technical quality, coordination and compliance prior to issue. Recommend resource requirements, design priorities and corrective actions required to meet project objectives. Classify/declassify Internal and Confidential documentation and control access in accordance with project and company requirements. Develop and lead architectural design from conceptual stage through schematic/design development to detailed design and tender/construction documentation, as applicable. Prepare and develop strong architectural concepts that respond to the client brief, site conditions, functional requirements, aesthetics, constructability, budget and programme. Master planning experience is advantageous, including development of site planning, circulation, land-use relationships, plot planning and coordination with infrastructure disciplines. Lead client coordination, design reviews and presentations; communicate design intent clearly and obtain client acceptance, approvals and closure of comments. Coordinate with statutory authorities, external stakeholders, sub-consultants and specialist designers to secure required inputs and approvals. Coordinate multidisciplinary design with Structural, MEP, Transport, Environment, Process, Landscape, Infrastructure and other engineering teams to ensure an integrated solution. Lead a team of Architects, Designers and BIM Modelers, quantity surveyors, Planning engineers; allocate tasks, review outputs, guide junior staff and maintain delivery quality and consistency. Plan and prioritize design activities to achieve project milestones and monitor design progress, resources, interfaces, risks and critical issues. Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, planning regulations, accessibility requirements, fire and life-safety requirements, local statutory requirements and relevant international standards. Review drawings, design reports, specifications, schedules, material selections and other architectural deliverables for technical completeness and coordination. Demonstrate working knowledge of design software and visualization tools. BIM/Revit knowledge is an added advantage but is not mandatory for the role. Support design change/variation identification, scope clarification and coordination with project management on programme and commercial implications. Plan project progress and invoicing strategies. Prepare project/design status reports and communicate key issues, decisions and action items to management and the client. Support quality, sustainability, information security and integrated management-system requirements applicable to the project. Demonstrate leadership, ownership and a collaborative approach that motivates the team and promotes effective communication across disciplines.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor of Architecture. Master of Architecture or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage. 10–15 years of professional architectural design experience, commensurate with the position level. Membership/registration with a recognized professional council is preferred. 10–15 years overall. 5-10 years in Middle East / Qatar project experience in design consultancy and familiarity with local authority processes. UPDA registration is mandatory, may be required depending on the grade and project assignment. Proficiency in AutoCAD and presentation/visualization software. Revit/BIM knowledge is an added advantage. PMP and LEED/GSAS certification are preferred for candidates progressing toward Project Manager responsibilities. Area of experience required: Architectural concept development; schematic and detailed design; client interaction and presentations; multidisciplinary design coordination; design project execution; code and life-safety compliance; team leadership.
