Job Description Roles & Responsibilities IoT / Edge Computing Engineer Location: UAE – Dubai / Abu Dhabi Experience: 4–8 Years Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract Work Mode: Onsite / Hybrid Job Summary We are looking for an experienced IoT / Edge Computing Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support scalable IoT and edge-computing solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IoT platforms, edge devices, cloud integration, real-time data processing, and distributed systems. The role will involve building secure and reliable solutions that enable real-time data collection, processing, analytics, and AI capabilities closer to connected devices and operational environments. Key Responsibilities Design and develop end-to-end IoT and Edge Computing solutions across devices, gateways, edge platforms, and cloud environments. Develop solutions for collecting, processing, transmitting, and analyzing real-time data from IoT devices and sensors. Configure and manage IoT devices, gateways, device provisioning, monitoring, and OTA updates. Develop and integrate IoT applications using Python, C++, Java, or similar programming languages. Implement IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, HTTP/REST, and OPC-UA. Build edge-processing solutions to reduce latency, bandwidth consumption, and dependency on centralized cloud processing. Integrate IoT solutions with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms. Work with technologies such as AWS IoT Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, Azure IoT Hub, and AWS IoT Core. Develop real-time data pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, MQTT brokers, or equivalent streaming platforms. Deploy containerized workloads at the edge using Docker and Kubernetes/K3s. Collaborate with data science and AI teams to deploy Edge AI / ML models for real-time inference. Implement monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for distributed edge environments. Ensure IoT infrastructure follows security best practices including device identity, certificates, encryption, secure communication, and access control. Participate in architecture discussions, proof-of-concepts, technical design, deployment, and production support. Required Skills & Experience 4–8 years of experience in IoT, Edge Computing, Embedded Systems, Cloud, or Distributed Systems. Strong programming experience in Python, C++, Java, or similar languages. Hands-on experience with IoT platforms and device management. Strong understanding of MQTT, REST APIs, HTTP, CoAP, OPC-UA, or similar protocols. Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/K3s or other container orchestration technologies. Understanding of real-time data processing and event-driven architectures. Experience with databases and data-storage technologies, preferably including time-series databases. Good understanding of Linux operating systems and networking concepts. Experience with Git, CI/CD, and automation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities. Good to Have Experience with Edge AI / Machine Learning inference. Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, TensorRT, or similar edge-AI platforms. Experience with AWS IoT Greengrass / Azure IoT Edge. Knowledge of Digital Twin technologies. Experience with Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink, or similar technologies. Experience with Industrial IoT (IIoT) and protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, or CAN. Experience with 5G, connected devices, smart cities, or connected vehicles. Knowledge of IoT security, PKI, Zero Trust, IAM, secure boot, and device authentication. Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. Exposure to Azure Digital Twins, AWS IoT TwinMaker, or equivalent platforms.
