Estimation & Cost Control Manager
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, ensuring all direct and indirect costs are captured. Implement robust cost control systems to monitor project expenditures against budget, identifying variances and proposing corrective actions. Manage the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive bidding and favorable contract terms. Oversee the preparation and validation of change order proposals, assessing their cost impact and negotiating fair resolutions. Establish and maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data for future estimating accuracy and benchmarking. Conduct detailed risk assessments related to cost and schedule, developing mitigation strategies to protect project profitability. Prepare regular, insightful cost reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators, risks, and opportunities. Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure alignment between estimates, budgets, and actual costs. Lead and mentor a team of estimators and cost engineers, fostering professional development and high performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and contractual requirements throughout the estimation and cost control lifecycle. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Professional certifications such as PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or RICS are highly advantageous. Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in cost estimation and control within the construction or engineering industry. Proven track record of managing cost control for large-scale, complex projects (e.g., infrastructure, industrial, oil & gas). Advanced proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., Primavera P6, CostX, Excel) and ERP systems. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing trends. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Strategic thinker with the capacity to foresee potential cost overruns and implement proactive measures. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
