Chief Database Geologist

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities The Chief Database Geoscientist understands both database infrastructure / management as well as the exploration work flow. They adapt and customize procedures and the database structure in order to suit the needs of the exploration team. They are responsible for a team of database geoscientists who will support and maintain the integrity and quality of exploration data. Job requirements Extensive knowledge of SQL and SQL Server Management Studio. Extensive experience in Fusion, DataShed or Aquire. Geological database experience at a major mining company or a medium-tier company with an extensive project portfolio. Experience implementing a database system at a new site. Focus on error prevention rather than error correction. Detail oriented Can readily recognize anomalous data Ready to integrate exploration principles with data management Knowledge in Python and any big data analytical tools will be added advantage Skill in any Business inteligence visualisation tool (Power BI, Tableaue) will be added advantage. Good leadership skills Develops others Multi-cultural experience Strong communication skills Open minded and able to accommodate the needs of the exploration team Ready to share information and ability teach / coach others.
