Associate Business Development Manager
Job Overview
- Business Development & Market Development Develop and implement business development strategies for rotating equipment and related EPC services. Identify new projects, tenders, shutdowns, brownfield modifications, revamp projects, and aftermarket opportunities. Monitor upcoming projects within oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, power, LNG, water, and other industrial sectors. Develop and maintain a strong project and opportunity pipeline. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities. Establish the company as a preferred contractor for rotating equipment services and EPC packages. 2. Client & Relationship Management Develop and maintain relationships with major end users, EPC contractors, engineering consultants, OEMs, technology licensors, and procurement organizations. Regularly visit clients and key stakeholders to understand their technical and commercial requirements. Identify decision-makers and influencers within target accounts. Develop strategic account plans for key clients. Represent the company at industry conferences, exhibitions, technical seminars, and business meetings. Maintain long-term relationships with existing customers while continuously developing new accounts. 3. Project & Opportunity Development Identify and qualify opportunities from initial lead through contract award. Review tender documents, project specifications, scope of work, and commercial requirements. Coordinate with engineering, estimating, procurement, project management, and operations teams to develop competitive proposals. Support preparation of technical and commercial bids. Develop project-specific business strategies, including partnering and subcontracting approaches. Participate in client clarification meetings, technical presentations, negotiations, and contract discussions. Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, opportunity stages, and reporting. 4. Rotating Equipment Expertise Develop business opportunities involving: Centrifugal compressors Reciprocating compressors Centrifugal and reciprocating pumps Gas turbines Steam turbines Turboexpanders Gearboxes Mechanical seals Dry gas seals Lubrication and seal oil systems Compressor and turbine auxiliaries API 610, API 611, API 612, API 613, API 614, API 617, API 618 and related standards Understand rotating equipment engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and turnaround requirements. Develop opportunities for equipment supply, EPC packages, mechanical installation, commissioning, maintenance, and aftermarket services. 5. EPC & Tendering Support Work closely with the estimating and tendering teams to develop technically compliant and commercially competitive offers. Analyze EPC tender requirements, equipment specifications, BOQs, vendor lists, and project schedules. Coordinate with OEMs and approved vendors to obtain competitive technical and commercial proposals. Support technical and commercial negotiations with clients and suppliers. Identify project risks, exclusions, commercial deviations, and potential claims during the tender stage. Provide market intelligence and pricing feedback to management. 6. Strategic Partnerships & OEM Development Establish strategic relationships with rotating equipment OEMs and technology providers. Develop partnerships, agency arrangements, distribution agreements, and subcontracting opportunities where appropriate. Identify opportunities where the company can act as an EPC contractor, system integrator, authorized service provider, or local execution partner. Maintain knowledge of OEM technologies, product developments, approved vendor lists, and market positioning. 7. Sales & Revenue Growth Achieve agreed annual sales and gross-margin targets. Develop short-, medium-, and long-term sales plans. Track order intake, sales pipeline, conversion rates, margins, and forecasts. Identify cross-selling opportunities for EPC, mechanical construction, maintenance, commissioning, shutdown, and aftermarket services. Develop repeat business from existing customers.
Desired Candidate Profile
Typically 8–15 years of experience in business development, sales, proposals, or commercial roles within EPC, oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial contracting. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with rotating equipment. Proven experience in developing and winning EPC, equipment supply, maintenance, shutdown, or aftermarket contracts. Experience dealing with major oil & gas operators, EPC contractors, OEMs, and engineering consultants. Strong understanding of project procurement processes, tendering, vendor registration, and contract award procedures. Experience in the Middle East / GCC market is highly desirable.
