Assembly Operator

To operate a wide range of test rigs and assemble in multiple areas to maximum capacity and to produce goods of the highest quality. MAIN DUTIES A general summary of the major activities and responsibilities (which represents the key tasks) of the jobholder. (A sample of day-to-day actions.) Setting and operating machine following the established procedures and standard work Instructions. Able to assemble/test all products within all assembly cells. To continually review and ensure all products manufactured meet the established quality standard. Read and follow instructions on drawings, routings, and ISO procedures so that the work produced meets requirements in terms of time and quality. Maintain a clean and tidy working environment to the company’s 5s standard so that the work area hazards are minimised, tooling and gauges etc. are protected and presentation meets the Company standard. Utilise all company provided personal protective equipment as well as other safety devices to ensure the job holders personal safety is maintained and that others are not jeopardised by their actions. Cooperate fully with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental programmes to ensure compliance at all times and that safe working practices are followed. Ensures effective handover to next shift especially where this involves the night shift or weekend shift in order that they can continue effective manufacturing. With increased experience, will train other Operators in the use of the machines, safety equipment and product. Expectation to host witness inspections as required. Fully contributing to problem solving activities. An active and contributing HPT member. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES All jobs are accountable for producing a range of outputs (end results). Production targets are met in terms of both numbers and timescales The jobholder follows standard work and ISO written procedures to manufacture product and identifies to supervision where procedures do not reflect optimum manufacture. The jobholder demonstrates flexibility in moving between tasks and machines. Produces products to quality standard and sets machine to 1st off Standard within the designated work area The jobholder ensures there is an effective handover between shifts; in particular there is sufficient material, and information to enable the next shift to continue manufacture. This is especially important when the next shift is the night shift or weekend shift who may not have ready access to raw material, drawings, and routings. Contributes to the success of the team through active problem solving. Takes responsibility for personal actions and those of others who may be assigned to the job holder. Is seen as an effective communicator and team member in getting on with others, identifying issues to supervision etc. Co-operates with line management to achieve business objectives Maintains premier housekeeping standards and participates actively in 5S programme Maintains regular attendance and timekeeping Publicly demonstrates consistent support to the Division and line management. Co-operation, close working relationships with Supervision and must be willing to undertake additional tasks / projects upon requests Good working relationship within the shop and the office Willingness to train, coach and encourage others Will be seen to take the initiative in the areas of quality / housekeeping/ cost reduction etc Fully contributing to problem solving activities. Is seen as an active and contributing HPT member.
