Accounting Manager

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Remote | Full-time We're looking for an experienced, proactive Client Accounting Manager to join Make Accounting Simple UAE. This senior role owns a client accounting pod, a team of Senior Accountants and Bookkeepers, supporting a large portfolio of UAE clients. Sitting between the Head of Accounting and the Senior Accountants, you'll own accurate, on-time delivery and the overall health of the pod: team performance, client relationships, complex issues, workflows, and capacity. You'll need strong UAE accounting and tax knowledge, plus solid people management and commercial judgement. You'll start alongside the Head of Accounting, learning the team and client base. Within 6–12 months, you'll run the pod independently. This role focuses on your own pod, building additional pods stays with the Head of Accounting. Team Management Manage Senior Accountants and Bookkeepers in your pod. Track team performance, workload, and morale. Step in with coaching where needed. Run regular check-ins. Give practical feedback. Solve team issues directly instead of escalating routine problems. Make sure no client depends on just one team member. Client Relationships Oversee client delivery across the whole pod. Build direct relationships with key clients. Step in personally for difficult conversations or complaints. Keep clients confident, especially during busy periods. Technical & Compliance Guide the team on complex VAT, Corporate Tax, and compliance questions. Make the call on when to handle something internally vs. bring in outside advice. Keep all VAT and Corporate Tax deadlines on track across the pod. Review team output. Flag recurring errors early. Client Onboarding Oversee new client onboarding into the pod. Understand each client's history and risks before work starts. Assign clear ownership from day one. Operations & Process Own how the pod runs day-to-day. Spot bottlenecks or unclear ownership. Fix them. Suggest process or tool changes that improve the team's output. Workload & Capacity Track workload across the team. Flag overload early. Report capacity issues to the Head of Accounting before they affect clients. Scope & Commercial Watch for clients asking for more than what's agreed. Flag scope or fee changes before they get absorbed silently. Reporting Report to the Head of Accounting on client health, team performance, and risks. Bring solutions, not just problems. Training Learn the pod from the Head of Accounting, then take it over. Build deep knowledge in UAE VAT and Corporate Tax. Help Senior Accountants grow into independent decision-makers. Desired Candidate Profile Essential Career accountant, 5+ years UAE accounting experience. Strong knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax. Experience managing or reviewing a client portfolio. Comfortable dealing directly with business owners and senior stakeholders. People management experience, or clearly ready for it. Experience coaching accountants. Able to handle complex or sensitive client situations. Knows when to escalate vs. handle internally. Commercially aware — spots scope, complexity, and risk changes. Based in the UAE. Working Style Proactive and solution-focused. Owns problems instead of escalating them. Runs a team and client portfolio with minimal oversight. Clear communicator, technical and non-technical alike. Gives direct feedback, handles hard conversations. Improves systems, not just fixes symptoms. Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture. Calm under pressure, comfortable in a fast-paced firm. Commercial, not just technical. What Success Looks Like Within 6–12 months, success in the role would mean: The pod operates independently with minimal day-to-day input required from the Head of Accounting. Senior Accountants feel supported, challenged and increasingly capable of making strong technical and client-facing decisions themselves. Bookkeepers have clear responsibilities, appropriate support and effective communication with their Senior Accountants. The Client Accounting Manager has a strong understanding of the engagement, performance and workload of every member of the pod. Client deadlines are consistently met. Accounting and compliance risks are identified early.
